With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we pause to remember and honor the life of Aundre Harris Jr., an 18-year-old young man from Kansas City, Missouri, whose life was tragically ended by gun violence. Aundre’s passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him, and the community mourns the loss of a bright and promising young life.
On the evening of Wednesday, around 9:30 p.m., Kansas City Police were dispatched to Bally’s Casino on East Front Street following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Aundre suffering from gunshot wounds in the casino parking lot. Emergency medical personnel responded immediately and transported him to a nearby hospital, where, despite their efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities reported that the incident began inside the casino as a disturbance involving multiple individuals, which escalated into a confrontation in the parking lot. During that altercation, shots were fired, and Aundre was struck. A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene, and investigations remain ongoing as law enforcement works to determine the full circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
Beyond the tragic circumstances, Aundre was so much more than a victim of violence. He was a beloved son, a cherished friend, and a young man standing at the threshold of adulthood, with dreams, ambitions, and a future full of possibilities. His presence, his laughter, and the joy he brought to those around him mattered deeply. Those who knew him will always remember his spirit, his energy, and the love he shared with others.
This devastating incident serves as a sobering reminder of the impact of gun violence on young lives and families. No parent should face the pain of burying a child, and no family should have to bear such grief. As Kansas City mourns, we stand in solidarity with Aundre’s loved ones, offering support, prayers, and compassion during this profoundly difficult time.
We urge anyone who witnessed the events that evening or has information to contact KCPD Homicide detectives at 816-234-5043 or submit information anonymously through the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
Rest in eternal peace, Aundre Harris Jr.
Gone too soon, but your memory will live forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
