According to reports, officers attempted to stop a vehicle that was driving recklessly near Hayden Avenue and Shaw Avenue. Milton was a passenger in the vehicle at the time. Police stated that when an officer activated lights and sirens, the vehicle initially pulled over. However, as the officer began to exit the patrol car, the vehicle suddenly sped away, prompting a brief pursuit.
The officer initiated a chase but made the decision to terminate it once speeds approached nearly 50 miles per hour, citing safety concerns. Despite the pursuit being called off, the vehicle continued fleeing at a high rate of speed. A short time later, officers located the vehicle after it had crashed. Tragically, Milton was found pinned beneath the wreckage.
Emergency responders acted quickly, transporting Milton to the nearest trauma center in hopes of saving his life. Despite their efforts, Milton Days was pronounced deceased.
